New to Oregon and looking for trip ideas and/or partners

Hello,

I recently moved to Coos Bay from the eastern slopes of the Sierra Nevada range and am looking for places to hike/ski/winter camp that will be within 4 hours from my new home town.

I like to consider myself an experienced adventurist and am looking for groups to join or ideas of places to check out. Prior to moving to Oregon, I mostly enjoyed long endurance hikes with a peak attempt. However, since moving to Oregon I have been plagued with responsibilities that have kept me from exploring the terrain and now that the days are longer, I am looking for casual hikes/skiing trips that range from 10-20 miles with no more than 3000ft of elevation gain. Probably less if on skis (it has been two years since I have used my AT skis). I do have all the necessary gear for all weather and most terrain conditions.

I would like to explore as much terrain as possible and am open for any ideas or suggestions.

Happy trails....

Danielle

welcome

the Cascades aren't as impressive as the Sierras, but some nice hikes there. Fewer people?

Three Sisters, Mt Jefferson, south of Three Sisters which I'm not so familiar with.

Check the field guide - click on "field guide", then "central oregon",...
