Mt Tomroy hike OCTOBER 3, 2015
Tom would have turned 57 on this day, so there will be a hike to Mt Tomroy in his honor. Mt Tomroy is the point 0.3 miles NE of Mt Margaret in Mt Margaret Backcountry (just north of Mt St Helens). The summit was named for Tom, after he made an accidental accent of the peak; the peak’s name includes his screen name “Roy.” Everybody is welcome to join this outing. The hike is about 10 miles and 2,500’ EG. Those not wishing to go so far, could turn around at either Norway Pass (two miles in) or Bear Pass (three miles in), both very worthy destinations in their own right.
Practical Aspects: I suggest that we carpool from opposite the Safeway Gas Station off NE 134th Street in Vancouver at 7.00 am. That should permit an arrival at the Norway Pass trail head at 9.30 am (Forest Pass required). From there we will hike to Mt Tomroy. There are restrooms and fresh water at the trail head; there are no water sources on the trail.
From left to right Mt Tomroy, Mt Margaret and Mt St Helens. There will be no snow when we do the hike.

Oh I wish I could join this hike. Health issues currently keeping me off the trails. Please give a salute to Roy for me. Thank you.

I have every intention of being there! Slim possibility of conflicting family event, but working on that.
(Anyone think the huckleberries will still be profuse up there by then?)
Thanks for keeping this flame lit, Peder!

Peder,
I would love to be there, but unfortunately I already have a commitment for the 29th. If that changes, I will let you know and join in.

Kelly - If things change, just show up at 7.00 am on Saturday. It would be great to see you and Mt Tomroy is on List of John!K.Wagner wrote:I would love to be there, but unfortunately I already have a commitment for the 29th. If that changes, I will let you know and join in.

Peder,
I know that Mt Tomroy is on Lists of John (my picture of it is on the page), but only by its elevation, 5860, which is interesting because he also lists Mt Margaret at 5860 feet.
I wonder if we could get John Kirk to change the name on his list to Tomroy?
