Looking for a section hike partner this summer

Post by Chazz » February 13th, 2015, 9:44 am

I am looking for a hiking partner this summer for a section of the Oregon portion of the PCT, from Ollalie Lake to Cascade Locks (102 miles). Due to limited amounts of vacation time, the hike plan will cover six days, including a weekend (Friday - Wednesday) in either August or early September.

My primary motivation for seeking a partner is that I made a promise to my wife that I would not do this hike alone and I've been striking out at attracting anyone from my normal circle to commit.

I'll be doing plenty of weekend conditioning hikes leading up to this.

Send me a PM if you are interested and wish further details before committing.

One of my goals for an upcoming hike is Timberline Lodge to Cascade Locks (50 miles). As of now, I’d be solo, but going with someone would probably be smarter (none of my friends backpack). This would be my longest hike to date (I’m pretty new to backpacking), so I’m pretty slow... this might sound ridiculous to you, but I was planning on the hike taking me 5 or 6 days (pack enough food for 7 just in case). My vacation time is limited too, but I wouldn’t want to be in a rush.

By the way, what did you use to create the planner/graph you attached?

I might have to take you up on that. If I have enough available time to take off work after other shorter backpacking trips this summer I definitely plan on doing a section. I'll talk to the boss and report back.
