Oregon Wild- Grizzly Peak Wildflower Hike with KS Wild

Join KS Wild on, Sunday June 29, in welcoming Oregon Wild botanical expert and naturalist Wendell Wood for an engaging wildflower walk to Grizzly Peak.

Level: Moderate
Distance: 6.0 miles
Elevation Gain: 750 feet
Leader: Wendell Wood
Location: BLM lands outside Ashland

At an elevation of 5922 feet, Grizzly Peak affords an outstanding view of the Rogue Valley and the city of Ashland. The short trail to the summit passes through a mixed forest of fir and pine. On a clear day, the trail offers outstanding views of the Cascades including Diamond Peak, Mount McLoughlin, and Mt. Shasta. In late spring and early summer wildflowers put on a spectacular show along the trail.

The emphasis of the trip is wildflower identification & natural history. A detailed plant list with scientific & common names will be provided. Space is limited to 15 participants. Please leave pets at home. Hike difficulty is moderate, be prepared to walk 6 miles roundtrip.

Carpool leaves the Ashland Outdoor Store at 9am on Sunday, June 29th. Please bring plenty of water, wear sturdy walking shoes, bring warm layers, sun protection, and a lunch.
