1st Time Poster

Post by djsatterfield » August 21st, 2023, 12:44 pm

Been lurking for awhile so decided sign up. Looks to be a great group with a lot of valuable information.
Been hiking/backpacking for 5 yrs. Backpacked to Havasu Falls & Mooney Falls, numerous Colorado trips (my son lives there), backpacked all over the Grand Canyon, heading up to the Grand Tetons backpacking this week, and with any luck, I would like to do the Mt. Hood Timberline Trail loop next August. My wife and I were on a roadtrip up there last year and I said I was coming back to backpack that area.
Anyway, glad to be here.

Tetons!
I'll be doing 100 just south in the Winds here in a couple weeks.

Wind River is next on my radar after Tetons and Timberline.

Have fun.

The Rockies have some spectacular terrain, but I find the very frequent thunderstorms to be very annoying.

By contrast, we just have a little smoke now and then in August. :(

Just got back from the Tetons, had a great backpacking trip there. First time carrying a BV500. Was kind of a pain, moving food and other smell items back and forth, but you do what you gotta do. Hoping to get away with a Ratsack on the Timberline. Time to start planning the trip for next August. I am sure I will have a ton of questions. Be patient. :)
