Hi, All!

Post by DennyB » December 30th, 2019, 8:45 pm

Just joined!

I moved to Oregon from Vegas in January 2019, so I'm still learning. Y'all have bears here! And I admit I jumped the first time a nutria showed me its teeth.

But all in all, I am loving being here with all of the green. People seem a little surprised when I admit I moved here for the weather, and not in spite of it. Does make the astronomy hobby a bit more difficult, but I'm fairly new to that as well.

Looking forward to some gorgeous hikes the Albany area,

- DennyB

Oh, and obligatory photo I took of Spencer Butte this past spring:

Technically, yes, but if you ever see one it'll probably be running away from you.

Nutria teeth are MUCH scarier than Oregon bears.

Welcome! I hope you'll post about your hikes here. :)

Yes we have bears but it's VERY rare to see them. For all the years I've hiked in Oregon I've never seen a bear while hiking. You're far more likely to be accosted by the cute and persistent gray jays and ground squirrels. ;)

Mountain Lions - that's what you should be afraid of

(not really, you occasionally see bears running away, mountain lions are more wary so you never see them, but they're watching you :))

welcome
