Hey! I'm Nick. Made in Australia and now citizen of the world.
I plan to be in Oregon on September as it's the only time I have a month off.
I'll use my friend's guestroom in Portland as my base but I plan to go up and around as much as possible.
As far as I know my base home will be among Tillamook and the renowned Mt. Hood. Would love to learn more about the area and where can I find good adventure. Might as well find a good adventure mate here !
Anyways, nice to meet you guys here !!!
Another Aussie visiting soon !

Hi Nick!
Awesome! It'll great to hear about your travels!
I'm sure you'll get no shortage of suggestions while you're in town but I'll but in a plug for getting up to Johnson Ridge Observatory at Mt St Helens as a "can't get anywhere else" experience.
While out in Tillamook, Cape Falcon (Oswald West) is a must as an old growth coast hike.

PS. And yes this Forum is very helpful. I've just registered but already gathered a lot of info from the past posts and a few questions I raised.

I have to agree with jeffstatt, Oswald West is one of my favorite places to visit at the Oregon Coast. Walking through the old growth forest and then coming out to the ocean view is spectacular! The sheltered cove is great for exploring at low tide. While there, I would also do the short hike up Neahkahnie Mountain. It provides a pretty view of that part of the coast.
