Spur trail to nowhere on Linton Lake trail

We went to Linton Lake (and falls) this weekend and on the way back to the car we discovered a well-used spur trail that leads to the road. It comes out on the road about a quarter or half a mile up from the official trailhead, at a sharp bend in the road where there are no signs except one that said “No Parking.” It appears on the topo map and it is still in great shape. But there are no signs at the junction with the main trail, and you can’t park at the place where it comes out on the road anyway. So does anyone know what the deal is with this trail?

it apparently was a use path for fishermen shortening the trip to the lake by about 1/2 mile, (i found that out by some resouce, cant remember which one now... it was like a year ago) but they must have put that sign in sometime....

how was the falls?

i went there two years ago... that trail is STEEP!!

The falls were beautiful. I can't believe there isn't a real trail up there! The trail to get there was TOUGH. I'm still struggling after recovering from that broken foot and I could only make it to the first waterfall. I will post a TR and the photos soon, but here are the photos that Greg took when he visited three years ago.
