Munra Creek

Post by Nwcanyoning » February 19th, 2023, 10:25 am

Recently saw that the 777 road is open( even though there’s still closure signs at the bottom). So we went up to see what Munra creek looks like. The 777 is pretty messy from winter, lots of down logs and some sliding, but very walkable. We saw little snow from the bottom to the Munra confluence. The FS has built a large retaining wall which doubles as a nice viewpoint to the uppermost large waterfall on the creek. The upper most drop is beautiful. The creek is now like most of the rest of the burned spaces, thorny and loose. The dumped vehicle is still beaten the two large upper drops. We saw leftover ropes at the second drop. Probably leftover from the 5/21 rescue. We also located an older iPhone, 60m rope, and many carabiners (canyon booty! Argh) Anywho, we had a great time and we’re thankful for the few hikers who took a moment to let us get down the last fall for the slim but real rock fall hazard. PSA, the Tanner TH was filled with glass. Keep your belongings on you or at home.

I'm glad to hear the road is open! Those are some intense rappels.
Believe it or not, I barely ever ride a mountain bike.
