I paid to use the site for 18 years and had about 30,000 photos on it. It's a real shock to lose all the work I'd done to label, sort into albums, etc. not to mention all my OH TR's are now without photos. At least I have most of the original pics. Some people, from what I've read online, didn't save the originals and have lost years of irreplaceable photos.

I find it very odd and bit suspicious, that fototime didn't have a good back-up system. This is all they had to say and this came after a month of silence - and I had to do a bit of research to even find this:

On March 10, due to circumstances beyond our control, FotoTime suffered a catastrophic outage. This outage effected both the infrastructure and data. Regretably, due to this outage, FotoTime has ceased operations.

We would like to thank all of our customers for supporting us all of these years. This difficult decision to cease operations was the only option available to us.

No kidding! On one of the blogs dedicated to this I read one guy is offering $1,000 to recover the only copies of pics of his late daughter. It's a drag for me too, for sure, and way too much of a task to go back and reconstruct all my TR's. I am still stunned that this could happen to a trusted, for pay, site. For now, I'm simply uploading pics directly onto OH. For the ones I've lost, I'll have to go back to Iceland, Norway and Scotland and do it again - not so bad a deal after all!

The 1958 Lookout Mountain 15 minute Quad calls this trail the "Green Leaf Trail."

Thanks for posting this info. I should have checked those old maps when I was exploring the area. I'd have checked out that trail then. Good excuse to go back, it's an interesting area.

I hiked south on the 406 road to it's end back then, but did not see any continuation. But then, I didn't look very hard, either. BTW, the 406 road was entirely drivable except for a small rockslide directly east of Lookout Mt. I could have crossed it in my SUV in the downhill direction but wasn't sure I'd be able to get back in the uphill direction. It was just a little too risky. I don't know if that's been fixed by now.

I was in the area last weekend and road 41 is still blocked by snow in places. I think I'll head out , maybe tomorrow and try to hike it from the south side.

I'd love to find a route down to one of those falls w/o canyoneering gear. Heading upstream from the PCT doesn't work (too many logjams).

Wow, that's quite the gnarly canyon to explore! As near as I can tell, it's only about three miles up the trail until you need to head down into the canyon along a ridge. I might look into that later. thanks for the link.
