Is this forest area just east of Benson Plateau difficult to hike??

The first few miles can be hiked on the Herman Creek Trail but then it gets much more difficult. Once you pass the junction with the Casey Creek trail, you can take an unmarked and non-maintained trail to the west, dropping down to the junction of Herman Creek and the East Fork of Herman Creek. The trail ends there and it is a bushwhack from then on. The creek must be forded at that point, too. The old Oregon Skyline Trail once took hikers up from there to the south end of the Benson Plateau but only a few short and overgrown remnants of that trail still exist.
