Creek between Tish Creek and Loowit Falls

Post by runsfast2002 » July 19th, 2016, 7:40 pm

I'm curious if anyone has (and I'm sure someone has) explored the creek between Tish Creek and Loowit Falls, the one flowing under the bridge right before High Bridge. I have a map that has a waterfall marked about 3/4 of a mile or more upstream, and I'm wondering if it's worth the bushwhack. I've gone down to the base under the bridge and it looks like it would be easier to start there than to find a way down from the top. I've attached a picture of the part of the stream visible from the trail, in case that helps in identification. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like Fern Creek.

Some info here, including reference to an archived report:

Great, thank you. I've heard of Black Bear but didn't realize that was Fern Creek.

Here's a video a friend of mine made about a trip we took to Black Bear Falls up Fern Creek. Explorer and Oregon Hiker legend Zach Forsyth was the first to photo document these falls publicly. Upon his exploration he came across a black bear at the upper fall. :)

Wow, that is amazing! Thanks for sharing. I may just have to venture up there and hope no bears are having a reunion.
