Documentation is definately a noble goal, but I'd have to say when his photos are combined with his adventurous narratives, Pablo's contributions on PH are definately artistic. In defense of pure "documentation" however, I think even Ansel Adams pronounced his stark admiration for the "snap shot." In addition to creating strikingly artistic work, he also seemed fascinated by the power of the simple snapshot (of which he took many as well) for it's power to portray a piece of time.
BTW - Pablo, thanks for the compliment! I'd like to compliment you on your recent adventures. I've followed a few of your footsteps several places in the Gorge, and have often admired your abilities. (Most recently, last summer and fall as I was hiking upper Munra ridge several times - the last bluffy section always representing a good scramble)
