Re: Lower Beaver Creek Canyon --- North Bridge removed

Good question! I did walk Robins Way. It felt more overgrown/neglected than closed. At lower end near Harlow House there are 3 or 4 very steep, muddy steps where the seep is having its way (acceptable and seemingly unrelated to slide). At Harlow House end going up I recall no posted signage of any k...

Re: Lower Beaver Creek Canyon --- North Bridge removed

OK, I'm in Sandee Palisades, so I just had a quick trot down to have a look. Reports of "removal" are somewhat exaggerated. More a half-assed "cut away the bridge span part and just leave everything sitting there." There's a barrier across the walkway with a "bridge closed" sign--somewhat redundant,...

Re: Lower Beaver Creek Canyon --- North Bridge removed

They are replacing it Beaver Creek Canyon North Pedestrian Bridge Replacement Last I heard was that "pending" post from before things shut down with the pandemic, but if they've actually removed the old bridge then it sounds like they got ...

Re: Lower Beaver Creek Canyon --- North Bridge removed

Thank you. It's a wonder they kept that bridge there so long after it became all twisted. I'll make the updates in the Field Guide.

Lower Beaver Creek Canyon --- North Bridge removed

I walked today the route described for Lower Beaver Creek Canyon. The Beaver Creek North Footbridge has been fully washed out/removed. Creek flow is of course low (July 31st) and one can still stay dry amid crossing via some small logs placed by residents ...

Re: Boy Scout Ridge July 14, 2020

... brutally dusty. Specifically, on the day you reference, the skies were brown in the Timberline neighborhood. The main culprit is the White River Canyon. If you've ever been in that canyon on a windy day, you're probably still picking sand out of all your crevices. Speaking of "virtually no people", ...

Timberline Trail Loop in a day - July 17, 2020

... pair of guys also doing the loop in a day. We would not see them again… After getting a look and a few pictures of Newton Creek falls and the deep canyon, we headed north into the arid, but still snowy section. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw/ACtC-3d72-SzVxPOVGKa0uS5IQmAK7YJ8I7LsnBc-z7G7Igoid5qLVKZhbyb6n9xk2yeBRhQ2MfwlTZjSYGaFAkQkXJe9kMAZe6JjYq6fcKyfKtiFo7LUmKlTm5Z1iUJtYPcxLX0kw6VKqDwglifRuypOEM5VA=w703-h937-no?authuser=0 ...

Re: Raspberry Lake, E Fork Illinois River, Sanger Canyon

Thank you for the introduction to this area. We've driven by on 199, but had no clue there were pocket lakes hidden away amongst the peaks.

Re: Raspberry Lake, E Fork Illinois River, Sanger Canyon

Nice report! Thanks for sharing! On the 4th of July we hiked the Black Butte Trail as far as Polar Bear Mountain where we enjoyed some wonderful wildflowers. We were looking at the map of the surrounding area and trails and wondering what they were like. Now I know! :D https://live.staticflickr.com/...
