Re: PSA: Sunrise Peak Trailhead inaccessible

Thanks for the suggestion of Tongue and Juniper. Shortest access appears to be through Randle, correct? (I attempted Sunrise Peak from the Trout Lake side.) I am not sure when I will get around to that but you can be sure I'll try really hard to find the current condition. I just got back from a lov...

Re: PSA: Sunrise Peak Trailhead inaccessible

Rd 2342 was repaired at great expense about 5 years ago. It was closed for several years. When I hiked Sunrise the year after they finally opened it again, I thought how wonderful it was that hikers got something good from a road repair rather than a permanent road closure. As is usually the case, ...

Re: PSA: Sunrise Peak Trailhead inaccessible

I actually did check both AllTrails and WTA before leaving, with no indication of a closed road, but such user reports shouldn't have to be the source for planned closure information. If there's not an official page I have missed I do indeed plan to call and give someone an earful. I am going to try...

PSA: Sunrise Peak Trailhead inaccessible

I just wasted six hours of driving and a beautiful fall Saturday because the bloody useless Forest Service doesn't bother to update their website. Trail #262 page says "Area Status: Open" and the general Current Recreation Conditions says nothing about Forest Road 2324 being closed for logging, but ...

Re: Ridge above Multnomah Falls?

I have read about Elevator Shaft, though I never did it. In whatever reports I read I seem to have missed this alluring ridge option unless I simply forgot.

Re: Ridge above Multnomah Falls?

Thank you. :)

How hard is the descent just west of "section of old road?"

Ridge above Multnomah Falls?

There is a prominent ridge above and to the east of Multnomah Falls with what appears to be a rather developed boot path along the top. I am wondering how people are getting there.

Re: Project Area Boundary signs on Wygant Trail

While this area is largely inaccessible due to the Mitchell Point and HCRH construction projects, Google Earth now shows rather brutal logging on both sides of Perham Creek in the latest aerial series. That was a pleasant wooded area when I walked it two and a half years ago. I still cannot find an ...

Re: Can you walk from Portland to the PCT at Cascade Locks?

Thank you. Yes that works. I checked the maps and you can use that trail to reach the Old Scenic Highway/NE Frontage Rd which then becomes the Historic Columbia River Highway which lets you run into Portland. Thank you so much. Gorge Trail #400 meets the HCRH at (45.58424, -122.09084) at an unoffic...
