Goat Rocks Gilbert Peak - August 10-12
As if I didn't see and do enough in Yosemite, I planned a trip to Goat Rocks with my buddy, Mark, as soon as I got back from CA. The first thing you need to do is hike through a cow pasture, all Alps style: http://i868.photobucket.com/albums/ab250/moonlightonvermont/Goat%20Rocks%202010/016.jpg It ra...

Yosemite National Park 60 miles of backpacking July 31-Aug 5
After taking two weeks off to heal up my I-T band injury, I headed down to Yosemite with Griff, Ryan, and Wade. I won't get into the details of the permit problems, fires interfering with our routes, or the nuisance of all the tourists in the Valley. Just some highlights: Indian Rock, just a short s...

7/16/10 Mult. Falls to Larch Mountain and Back
This is one that has not only been on this year's tick list, but I've wanted to do for about five years. I started off strong and only saw a few casual tourists on the paved Multnomah Falls switchbacks. Later on, a long-distance runner passed me and we ended up hiking and talking together for a whil...

Re: 07/15/10 - Mt. St. Helens FAIL
We plodded along for about an hour on the boulder field and only managed to go about 1/4 mile or so. Try as she might, Thea just couldn't negotiate the boulders efficiently enough for us to make it. We also knew that the trail was supposed to get worse, then there would be the even more difficult t...

Re: I would love some company for a week long Glacier Nat'l park
I would go in a second if I hadn't booked up my summer already. Glacier is something I'll probably get to in '11 or '12. Have fun!

Re: My tick list for summer '10 -- always looking for partners
I've never done the full Loowit Loop (#9), just some parts of the southern arc. I imagine if/when I do the entire thing, I'd start at June Lake and head counter-clockwise. Then again, I'd also call the ranger station and see what they have to say about it. I used to run sections (flats and slight do...

Spaceships and poop litter
Hikers: Thekevinscott, Chase Trail: Table Mtn. via west ridge (not the loop). At the road near Gillette Lake we headed south on our return, following the gravel road back to Highway 14. You get to pass Kidney Lake (and others) if you do this. Two words of caution, though, if you do try this: there's...

Hi Alex,
I've been in the area for five years now. Always looking for new partners. Two weeks from now we can do something...send me a PM and we'll talk.

My tick list for summer '10 -- always looking for partners
Updated Sept. 6 - Nick Eaton Ridge done. Never did do the T-line Trail due to spending last weekend on PCTA trail maintenance. Five of the ten are done, plus Goat Rocks and a trip to Yosemite, so I figure that counts for hike #10 on this list, making six of the ten complete. Updated August 21 Okay, ...
