Re: Vista Ridge to McNeil Point (Sept 23)

No, I carry a regular tripod -- with the tripod in my right hand and trekking pole on the left. I think my right arm is a bit longer, as a result, Don...

According to the metadata his primary kit is quite light: OM-D E-M10 Mk III and OLYMPUS M.12-50mm F3.5-6.3, at 22 ounces combined. I sometimes wish I had a Micro 4/3 setup as my APS-C standard zoom weighs more t...

Re: Vista Ridge to McNeil Point (Sept 23)

Thank you, Don! It's that magical time of year when there's fresh snow on the mountain and the trails are still clear for hiking!

Re: Barrett Spur via Cathedral Ridge 2021/10/03

Nice report and photos! I might have passed you on the trail, too -- I was coming back from the McNeil tarns around 3:30 or 4 PM and ran into a couple folks coming back from that direction (I came up from the Vista ridge TH).

Vista Ridge to the McNeil & Mazama Tarns (Oct 3)

Another trip up the Vista Ridge trail this fall, this time to the McNeil and Mazama tarns, below McNeil Point. Lovely fall hiking conditions, and even a few patches of snow along the Timberline Trail. Some photos from the trip.... ...starting with a major shout-out to TKO volunteers who have clearly...

Vista Ridge to McNeil Point (Sept 23)

It's crunch time for fall hiking up on the mountain! Low snow levels came early this year, and while we'll still likely have some more snow-free hiking in the weeks ahead, this (my favorite!) time of year moves quickly! Started at the Vista Ridge TH and hiked to McNeil Point via Cairn Basin a couple...
