Jenny Creek Falls (Northern California) 24-Apr-2018
These falls are just over the border in Northern California but since they get all of their water from Oregon, I thought they're fair game for a trip report. Jenny Creek - which has been proposed for designation as a Wild and Scenic River - flows south out of Howard Prairie Reservoir in southwester...

Re: hiking community fails to embrace fat queer hikers
It's not tricky to suss out how to interact with other people on the trail: 1) Say hello. 2) Do you have a question that pertains to the hike you're doing? Ask it! Does the other person have a question? Presumably they will ask it! 3) Questions, or other conversation about the weather et al. ensue....

Re: Question on Illinois River Trail (Kalmiopsis)
The Illinois trail between Briggs and Pine Flat is well used and clear. From Pine to Baldy it's mostly brush free. Expect brush and a few ticks from Baldy down to Silver Creek. There's trail damage north of Silver but trail from there to Oak Flat was brushed 1-2 years ago.

Re: "Keep our mountains free and dangerous"
I don't know what everyone is complaining about. I like rules! I also want parking lot attendants and concierges at every trail head. We also need to commercialize our woods before we log them. Starbucks at all culturally significant locations like the Hogsback and the top of Dog. Boot shines and t...

That's because you keep hiking up the Table Mountain on the Oregon side!kepPNW wrote:Shhhhh! Been lovin' how few folks are finding their way up Table since the hot springs closed. This can only help!

Re: Rogue River Trail from Grave Creek
Thanks for pointing out the loop option. I did not know about that. Now i am considering that for April. Based on your previous hike, do you think the loop trail is doable in April, or should i wait? I see the info online points out possibility of impassable rivers if water is high. We've had a bel...

Re: The Merc on crowds after the fire
Who knew Table Mountain lead to Multnomah Falls - or is it the other way around? Things must really have changed in the Gorge since we moved south. Anyway, while hoards of geographically confused Merc readers are milling around Eagle Creek looking for Table Mountain, you'll be able to get in a quick...

Re: Rogue Wolf Loop
We're planning to try this loop in early summer, depending on how quick the snow melts. The Siskiyou Mountain Club did heroic work getting it open after years of neglect but Solace Meadow got burned again by the 2017 Blanket Fire and the SMC was only able to clear 1.5 miles of the 2.6 miles of the #...

Re: Six Hikes in Arizona 19/25-Mar-2018
So nice! We're going down there for a week in April. Thanks for the link to Arizona trails in your blog - we're visiting Sedona but I've been itching to add some hikes with Saguaros as well, something in Phoenix area. I'd strongly recommend the Ford Canyon Loop just west of Phoenix. Easy to get to ...
