Re: Dogs, dogs, dogs
...poop bags all along the trail ... WTF is the matter with people?! If you're not going to carry it out, just kick it off the trail and let nature take its course. What do these fucked-in-the-head dog owners think is going to happen to their bagged waste? Do they think the poop fairy comes by ever...

Hi yelaj. Thanks for posting. I see it's your first. Long-time lurker? I was disappointed to see an organized event in a place like SSM, but I like your statement that you engage in trail maintenance. Of course, it's a little self-serving, but if you leave the trails in better shape after the event ...

Shocking to see Viento Ridge show up in a printed guidebook.
Sounds like a good story. Please share?Peder wrote:I also found out the hard way that the trail over toward Starvation Ridge starts at the NW corner of the last powerline mast!

Re: Wauna Point Direct and Dublin Lake (6/19/16)
The only problem is that once the trail levels out onto the plateau area it basically vanishes completely. It took me a minute or two to see the faintest hint of trail, which was just undergrowth that was slightly less tall than the next plant. But once I got it I was fine. If you don't like not be...

Re: BPA Powerline/Viento Ridge July 11, 2010
This seems to be the only TR on this route, so rather than starting a new topic, I think it makes sense to piggyback onto Pablo's. I too was inspired to try this when I saw that powerline trail as I looked east from Starvation. So enticing! Left starvation TH at dawn, headed east on paved trail to V...

When I saw this TR, I thought "I bet he won't say anything about Sturgeon Rock...nobody ever cares about Sturgeon Rock".

Re: Vista Ridge to Dollar Lake - 2016/06/19
I heard talk of new snow, but I had no idea it was like that! I bet a lot of uninformed hikers are surprised/disappointed/overjoyed by what they encounter up there this June. Of course, it will be gone soon. I like the post-fire Vista Ridge. More interesting now. Disappointed you'd rui...

Re: Lots of people and wildflowers on Silver Star - 6/19/16
Crowds and shooters and taggers and runners? Disgusting! That's not the SSM I fell in love with! Admittedly, I think I've been there at odd times (weekdays, stormy days, when it's all under snow...) I like your super-detailed report. Makes us feel like we were there. A minor correction: A hike that ...
