Re: Guatemala - February 2024
See any resplendent quetzals? Third photo from the bottom. I think we saw four males and two females on that hike. I got scabies and a bot fly, which is kind of too disgusting to even describe. Guatemala - February 2024
I spent most of February in Guatemala visiting a good cross-section of the country and keeping ambulatory as much as possible. After a few days on my own, including a short foray into Honduras, I met up with a friend in Guatemala City, where we rented a car and drove north. The big trek of the trip ...

Re: Dry Creek Falls in Columbia River Gorge Area (Alternate Route via Forest Road instead of PCT)
That section of Dry Creek through the defile below the PCT is pretty and relatively untraveled. It's a nice loop, especially this time of year, out the PCT and then return down the old road to Cascade Locks.

Thanks for the interesting report on this extension to the Ridgeline Trail system. I'll have to check it out when I'm down there.
FYI, your link to the master plan just sends us to the Ridgeline brochure again.

There are two trail options once you get down to the PCT-Timberline junction. They are covered in this Field Guide entry (see the map):

Green Mountain (Camas) 2-2-24
The Green Mountain Open Space is on the far northeast corner of Camas, Washington, covering the forested summit area of a Boring volcano and its long, gradual east slope. I revisited the area to check out the system after volunteers have erected signage and formalized the trail system. From the smal...

Glad we've got someone like you, Don, to go out there and check everything so others don't have to!

Re: Pepper Mountain (Gorge) 1/27/2023
My only time up there was during the COVID period when the trails were closed. Since this wasn't an official trail, I considered it fair game!

Yes. It's been corrected before when it expires. Have to see if an Admin can pick this up and correct it, but thanks for the heads up!
