Re: Elevator Shaft (east of Multnomah Falls)
Indeed, being unable to see my feet/footing is what stopped me, and that was merely thimbleberry! No problem pushing through that when I have some confidence of what's below it, but on a loose talus slope it really shut me down.

Re: Moth (?) ID question
Googling “large fuzzy moth late October Mount Hood” is unsurprisingly less than helpful. Try this list instead? https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?nelat=45.513124963657795&nelng=-120.99562298097179&place_id=any&subview=map&swlat=45.24786252404797&swlng=-122.31398235597179&view=species&iconic_...

Okay. I thought you might keep an online gallery somewhere. Nevertheless thanks for sharing them.
FYI: this forum software resizes to 1200 pixels on the long edge. You will likely induce less generational compression loss by cropping/resizing directly to 1200px before uploading, rather than 1400.

Re: Lava Canyon - Old Road 83 Loop
Thanks for the video. I chickened out of that trail some years back as I am simply not sure footed enough to handle narrow ledges beside a chasm with anything but the best traction. I see that the trail is still a scree covered nightmare. I appreciate being able to take a vicarious trip along ...

Re: Elevator Shaft (east of Multnomah Falls)
That explains why the rock on bottom part of the trail looked so well cared for. I appreciate the effort that went into it.

Re: Ridge above Multnomah Falls?
I was hoping to work on clearing some of that route. How large are those saplings now do you suppose? My loppers go to about 1.5" I believe; any more than that and progress would be extremely slow as I don't have a power saw. Maybe this one is already beyond me as presently equipped.

Very cool artifact hike. Please be careful on the return, "This does not look safe" and all.

Thomas Lake Trailhead
Can Thomas Lake Trailhead currently be accessed by car from the south on FR-65, passing Panther Creek Falls?
