Across the Sierra, Pt. 3: South Fork San Joaquin

https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4487/23468348788_584e38f9b8_c.jpg Opening picture: the headwaters of Goddard Creek. This is the third of four entries about Krista and my circuitous ramble up the Sierra this past summer, from Kearsarge to Piute Pass. The first is here , and second here . I’ll post a ...

Re: Timberline MTB Park - Judge Denies Motion from Cons. Gro

Aesthetically, I think it's sort of cool to see the developed area. Tourists in sandals. Ski lifts. The cell tower... I guess that brings up another important limitation of my aesthetic worry: unlike the environmental concerns, where there really is a fact of the matter (even if we don't know it fo...

Re: Timberline MTB Park - Judge Denies Motion from Cons. Gro

The slopes above Timberline have already been destroyed by overuse, but it seems like having bicycles go down without even a padding of snow can only make things much worse. I've always viewed the Lodge somewhat fondly, but reading their glib, moronic press release , which doesn't even begin to ack...

Re: Across the Sierra, Pt. 2: Middle Fork Kings River

Hey, thanks - and, er, sorry - all!

I feel like you could do Roper's High Route pretty easily, though I'm sure there are further afield things worth seeing too...

I'm sure constructing your TRs are time consuming sorting thru pics and carefully telling your story w/ your prose. Just really looking forward to the ongoing adventure.
Ha, sorry to have kept you waiting! It's been a busy month :)

Re: Across the Sierra, Pt. 1: South Fork Kings River

Oh nice! I was just thinking about doing that same trip, but starting with Lamarck and ending with Bishop Pass. How was the area between the Lamarck Lakes and Darwin Canyon? I'm pretty comfortable with off trail and light class 3 scrambling, but much more than that and I start getting nervous. It's...

Re: Across the Sierra, Pt. 1: South Fork Kings River

Hey, thanks so much everyone! It always feels a little self-indulgent to write TRs this long, and I'm so glad when it turns out that someone besides me enjoys them. My brother and I did a multiple day trip starting at South Lake, up to Bishop Pass, Dusy Basin (still right at the top of my favorite p...

Always nice to see an old TR necromanced, but yea: please stay out of tribal land - not because of enforcement, but because it's the right thing to do.
