Re: Birkenfeld Mt to Three Corner Rock

As I said in the other thread, great trip! And I think those were my tracks you followed: there were faint indents when I went through, but nothing terribly definitive. Sorry if I led you astray!

Re: Bonneville TH to Three Corner Rock + Table Mountain (May 4, 2018)

I could have plagiarized much of your Table to 3cr section for my report (I was a day behind you). I may have walked in your footprints from pct to 3cr. Ha, nice! Did you start from Bonneville as well? Nope. I'm a chubby middle-aged desk jocky. I started on the east side of Birkenfeld Mt, cam...

Re: Salmon River Trail… Nearly the Whole Thing (Apr. 18)

Thanks, everyone! this is beautiful! do you think the early backpacking sites would be full on a saturday? seems like maybe since it's so close to pdx... Good question! There are a bunch of spots, but I could also imagine it getting packed , especially on a sunny Saturday. But, at least judging by t...

Re: Across the Sierra, Pt. 3: South Fork San Joaquin

Thanks, guys! I am exclusively a hammock camper now and was wondering in your experience if on the southern part of the trail towards Mt Whitney, do you think I would be able to use my hammock? I see most of your campsites are beautiful lakeside paradises but was hoping to get your take on the surro...

Re: Timberline MTB Park - Judge Denies Motion from Cons. Gro

Aesthetically, I think it's sort of cool to see the developed area. Tourists in sandals. Ski lifts. The cell tower... I guess that brings up another important limitation of my aesthetic worry: unlike the environmental concerns, where there really is a fact of the matter (even if we don't know it fo...

Re: Timberline MTB Park - Judge Denies Motion from Cons. Gro

The slopes above Timberline have already been destroyed by overuse, but it seems like having bicycles go down without even a padding of snow can only make things much worse. I've always viewed the Lodge somewhat fondly, but reading their glib, moronic press release , which doesn't even begin to ack...
