Re: Southern Oregon PCT (85mi) Section Hike - Ashland to Crater Lake (Part 2)

Excellent photos and looking forward to reading the third installment. Was it possible to scale to the top of Lucifer Peak? It looked like the trail went just below the peak and there might have been an off-trail opportunity near the saddle.

PCT section hike - June 2018 (Cascade Locks to Warren Gap Rd)

This trip was not supposed to be section hike. Myself and two coworkers had intended on a two day Loowit trail loop in late June but the trail reports at the time were indicating that the conditions of the trail at the time, especially deep snow still on the southwest side of St Helens, made this hi...

Re: Elkhorn Crest Trail 8/12 - 8/16/18

Excellent trip report and I am amazed at the number of goat encounters you had. Do you happen to know when typically the majority of the trails are melted out? It's pretty high elevation for Oregon but I don't have much experience in the eastern part of the state to be able to guess very accurately.

Re: Oregon PCT (85mi) Section Hike - Ashland to Crater Lake (Part 1)

Thanks for the smoke update. I have my own section hike coming up during Labor Day weekend from Elk Lake to Odell Lake so I am on constant smoke and fire watch mode lately after getting skunked by the fires around Mt Bachelor last year.

Great trip report and looking forward to the next installment. How much smoke did you encounter down there? I saw some haze in a couple of those photos.

Re: Blister Prevention

Blisters between toes indicates that your feet may need a larger toe box to allow your forefoot to spread more when you put pressure on it. Look at Altra's rather than the Solomon shoes. I also support pre-taping with leukotape at known points of vulnerability, frequent airing of feet and even swapp...
