Timberline in a day, 9-10-16

Two summers ago, I attempted to backpack the Timberline in 3 nights with a friend who ended up carrying the horse, cart, and kitchen sink on his back. By the end of day 1, we'd only made it to Ramona Falls and he was hurting very badly, so we camped and retraced our steps the next day, a pretty demo...

Really great trip report! The photo of the wing is super interesting, and I think you've posted some of the best Elliot crossing photos I've seen on here. Thanks!

Weird bunker at Cast Lake

My wife, sister in law, and pooch hiked into Cast Lake yesterday to spend the evening and then get up on ZigZag Mountain this morning. We found a campsite on the peninsula of Cast Lake and set up camp. While my sister in law was getting the lay of the land, she found this: https://farm4.staticflickr...

Re: Cooper Spur from Cloud Cap, August 11

I saw plenty of regular passenger cars up there. There is a fair amount of tree debris on the road, and towards the top, about 6-8 dikes for lack of a better word, or raod bumps that lead into a depression. They come out of nowhere a little bit too, but a passenger car that isn't too loaded should h...

Cooper Spur from Cloud Cap, August 11

This past weekend, my wife, dog and I had been car camping with friends near Hood River and wanted to end the weekend with a new hike. I noticed by chance that the road to Cloud Cap had recently reopened and with confirmation from the Ranger's office, we decided to drive up Sunday, camp in the campg...

Hey! Hope the report is helpful to your trip! If, by chance, you happen to find a silver CRKT Drifter pocket knife on the trail, let me know! Seems to have run off on me. Happy trails.

Yocum Ridge Overnighter July 17 2014

With the heat finally subsiding, it seemed like a good opportunity to get up on the mountain and check out a new trail. This was also my first time doing a solo overnighter which left me a little apprehensive, but sometimes you just jump in. The trailhead for Ramona Falls and the trails themselves w...

Re: 9/2/13 Bull of the woods via Pansy Lake

It's not in terrible shape, but it looks to be in ongoing decline. We were able to look past some of the shutters and the interior is still somewhat organized, with a cot or two and some cans of fuel. The exterior paint is mostly gone and we stepped lightly the first time we walked around the deck. ...
