Re: Recovery operation in Bridal Veil Creek

Crazy! I often go down to Oaks Bottom over the weekend to stretch my legs and one day last spring/early summer as I was walking around the back side edge of the lake on the trail right along the bottom of the bluff I came up to one of the several raised walkway sections that had been blocked off wit...

Re: Rescue operation for climber on Mt. Hood

It appears the Oregonian was reporting info they received from the Clackamas County Sheriff's office regarding the MLB:

Re: Sticky: gunfight thread

I usually avoid these types of threads all together, but I got sucked into this one initially when I clicked on it not actually knowing what it was about since it was in the hiking section. Anyway, I've checked in to read the last page or so 3-4 times now and I have to say that the comments from som...

Re: 10/25/14 Near Death Experience at Threemile Lake Tr OR D

Of course I wouldn't say that if someone had got hurt so I hope it's not taken the wrong way. I'd have said the same thing, or probably worse, if it had been me on the trail. It was a compliment! My opinion is that people in general are way too uptight and most could benefit from a little lightenin...

Re: Nesmith Point trail really is deteriorated

October 22, 2014 - hiked in very heavy rain up to Corky's Corner (2600' spot). Trail is about the same as the other 20 times (or so) I've done it. Yes, could use some work, but steep trails always seem to need extra maintenance. Be careful as it is very slippery. Correction: Corky's Corner is at 27...

Re: 10/25/14 Near Death Experience at Threemile Lake Tr OR D

That's my favorite trail on the coast. Down the big dune to the lakeside is a great lunch spot. I'm glad you didn't get any blood on it.. :P I've noticed several comments like this from you recently..... and I have to say I'm gaining an appreciation for your wry sense of humor! I walk a lot of mile...

Re: Snow today...UGGGGG!!!!

According to the Federal Highway Administration, the number of accidents would drop if our rainy season was replaced by a snow season. The vast majority of most weather-related crashes happen on wet pavement and during rainfall: Seventy-four percent (74%) on wet pavement and forty-six percent (46%)...

Re: Dog rescued off Eagle Creek Trail 10-6-2104

Yikes! That's something that would be difficult - and not necessarily desirable - to get over. I've heard "never, ever, pet a dog that you don't know", but that doesn't help with leaping dogs. Well, it definitely was surprising and made for kind of a bizarre morning, but it really wasn't anything t...

Re: Road to Burnt Lake - Getting Worse.

LMAO. These kinds of posts are extremely myopic and uninformed. I guess the OP thinks that every road in the system should be magically transformed to perfection and stay that way simply because hikers pay a measly $30 a year as their small contribution to the cause. Almost as ridiculous and hilario...

Re: Dog rescued off Eagle Creek Trail 10-6-2104

That's gruesome. How did the dog manage to bite your shoulder? That's the way it looked the next day after the bruising developed overnight. I was just walking down the beach along the edge of the water and had just passed the other dog that belonged to the same owner, which was barking nonchalantl...
