Re: Mount Hood Loop 8/26 to 8/30/2011

Hi Jerry,
It looks like you had perfect timing for the loop. I was thinking of doing this in September but I am a little intimidated by the Eliot crossing.
Glad you had a fun, safe trip.
Also, did you get a chance to look around the Gnarl ridge shelter for a spring (if there is one)?

Crawdad capital, Veda Lake

This is such a fun short backpack or hike and has one of my very favorite views of Mt. Hood.
Crawdads are monsters in this little lake too.

Re: Yes, yet another McNeil Point posting!!

I've written trip reports for all my favorite hikes :) The only hikes that are secret would be illegal ones, like maybe if you continued on the Tanner Butte trail over to the PCT through a short section of forbidden Bull Run, that would be secret, but I haven't tried it yet. Maybe I'll go up there ...

Re: Yes, yet another McNeil Point posting!!

I can't remember what the outcome was...but has pdxhikers come up with a sticker or tag we can put on our packs IDing us as pdxhikers? I think that would be a great convo starter and way to increase traffic to the site! Either way, great pics and nice to see the flowers are finally out. I did this ...

Yes, yet another McNeil Point posting!!

Aug. 10th 2011 This is such a great hike and now is especially nice with a little snow and lots of wildflowers. The Top spur trail head to McNeil point is one of my favorites on Mt. Hood. This trip was even made more special because I ran into a celeberty of sorts named "retired Jerry"! He told me t...

Thanks for sharing your rant. I had the same problem and had not heard of anyone else have problems with the switch and wondered if it was just me. :?
