Re: 3 Sisters Wilderness, Broken Top traverse...

Hahahaha wayne, because of you I'm putting this on the cover of my next edition!! As for BT's northern waterfall...I know nothing. How 'bout put some pix on Panoramio so we can all look-see? And, as for that crater...I know nothing...and the Lidar site didn't seem to tell me anything either, but it ...

Great report Greg...thanks!! I love geocaches, though I've never had a GPS to search them out...I just kinda like muggling upon them and reading the log books and leaving fun messages like "took barbie head, left $10 gold coin"!

Sweet pix Gene! Clear Lake and the McKenzie are about as beautiful as can be! If you are a lava geek, be sure to check out the lidar views of the area on the Dogami Oregon Lidar website----it's super cool to see how the lava flowed down from Sand Mtn to dam the river and lake. Gotta love the Lidar!!

Re: The Gifford's secret: Cave Falls

This "middle falls" is about half way between Big Creek falls and the Cave Falls perched viewpoint.....just listen for its roar. Once you know it's actually there, the bushwhack to get as close as my quick shot was fairly easy. The log overlooking the chasm is right up my alley, but probably not for...

The Gifford's secret: Cave Falls

One morning about 6 weeks ago I ended up at Big Creek Falls, wanting to get a sunny-day photo of Hemlock Creek Falls during high-water springtime. Mother Nature thankfully abliged with a sunny blue-sky morning, and with cuppa joe in hand I wandered my way out along the Cave Falls rim to the trail's ...

Ha...ok, good nuff....I just thought Greg was indefatigable....figuring that anyone who could endure the trek down to the Devil's Staircase...might be a superman!! When you go back, please honor us with some shots of the columnar basalt display along the northern canyon wall downstream of the falls-...

Awesome pix...great to see the falls from your guys' lenses! I'm a lil puzzled why you didn't use my directions to get to the bottom of Lil Goose Creek fall...

Re: Boyd Cave/ Deschutes National Forest

Yeah Will, make sure to visit Skylight between 9-11am, or there'll be no ethereal light-beam show. Also there's Sawyer caves on the way to the McKenzie River...then near Bend I describe in my book the little-known route to Pictograph cave, as well as to the better-known Hidden Forest cave. Maybe mos...
