Oregon Hikers

I don’t know about current conditions though I’ve heard the mosquitos/bugs are bad right now on Mt Hood. I backpacked to Twin Lakes a few years back and it’s on an easy, wide trail covered in pine needles and shaded by the forest. I would be surprised if there was snow there this late.

I was hoping to overnight in Cairn Basin this weekend, are the bugs bad enough there to find somewhere else?
Is there anywhere scenic that won’t be swarmed with bugs right now? My other idea was Jefferson Park but a recent report also noted horrible mosquitos.

The County Line 2 fire in Warm Springs is less than 35 miles away.

How affected is the Siouxson Creek/ Gifford Pinchot area by the Mt Adams wildfire wrt air quality and haziness?

Thanks for the tips on Jefferson Park, looks a little close to the fire to try it out this time but I'll keep it in mind for my next trip.

I was also looking at a few places a little further south (Opal Creek, Battle Ax, McKenzie River, Three Fingered Jack) but are those spots going to be affected by the wildfire in Warm Springs?
