Re: Eagle Creek Trail

You would think that the opening of the Eagle Creek would be perfect timing for the government/USFS to implement specific fees/permits such as what's happening at Dog Mountain. While most of us dislike the hiking trail permits, it would cut down on trail/ecosystem overuse and parking lot crime. How ...

2019 Meet n Deet?

I've been away for a few years. Do we still have annual Meet n Deets around the holidays?

Eagle Creek Trail

Does anyone know an about (updated) time (year) when TKO/ USFS plans to reopen the Eagle Creek Trail?

Ever since the 2017 fire, I've had a very hard time finding a trail that is even close to the Eagle Creek in distance, elevation, and totally awesome waterfalls. Thanks! :)

Hidden Falls Nature Park & Waterfall

A friend at work has been egging me on about visiting this quaint little waterfall called Hidden Falls because of my huge interest in photographing waterfalls anywhere I can find them. Note sure if anyone has posted about it but it's quite the beautiful little falls. And what's so unique about Hidde...

:) Besides taking awesome pics, you are always able to locate the neatest things, be it birds, animals, wildflowers, waterfalls, and on and on the list goes. We're gonna have to call you Sherpa Gene! ;)

Re: CalTopo Offline

:) Thanks Karl! Thanks for the info. It sounds like you know the caltopo owner, so it will probably be up and running in no time. The Apache Tomcat I was referring to was a US Navy Tomcat Fighter Squadron Op during Viet Nam at Hamburger Hill.

CalTopo Offline

Caltopo.com is no longer in service. A few days ago to currently, a DOS PROMPT screen appears with the words Apache Tomcat all over it. Apache Tomcat is a military term. Has the site been taken over by the U.S. Government? I loved that online topo map. It showed a lot of features, especially trails....

:) Cheryl, those are some very awesome photos!!! What type of camera are you using? Have you ever considered opening up a gallery? And what about your book on Fire Lookouts. When is your publishing date? ;)
