King's Mountain summit register

FYI

The container seems to have been screwed down so hard it can't be open. I'm fairly strong and I couldn't make it budge.

If any one has super human strength or knows how to open it, please try!

Re: Timberline conditions

I brought mine when I did it 3 weeks ago. I used them twice on river crossings. Totally not needed for the tiny snow patches that were there then. (They are likely long gone.)

I probably didn't need them on the river crossings either, but I was doing the trail alone and was extra cautious.

Re: South Sister and Middle Sister ONLY loop?

I'd like to circle both S and M in one big loop. I've walked up the side of the Hayden and am confident in my abilities to get to the M/N saddle and Prouty Pt. I have not done the Renfrew section down to the PCT though. Will it be "easy" to navigate? Basically a scree ski? I was there in June and th...

South Sister and Middle Sister ONLY loop?

Does it exist? I can't do the Obsidian area (no permit) and want to walk around mountains I've climbed. (not North!) If I started at Pole Creek and went up the Hayden, can I just go down the Renfrew and then head south on the PCT until I cut around the south side of S Sister? I've climbed Middle fro...

Plentiful!
I’m not a plant person, but there were reds, purples, and those fluffy Dr. Seuss looking things everywhere.

And butterflies!

Born2BBrad- THANK YOU for your write up! It was part of the compilation I used to guide me on my TT trip!
I wrote my first trip report hoping I could help someone else. :)

Re: Timberline Trail: 6/27/18-6/29/18

Please leave the pup at home! It is hot, dry, long, and dusty and lots of volcanic scree on their paws. I watched one scared dog almost pull his owner in and another wanting fight a dog not on a leash. The Newton, Coe, and Eliot could be really dangerous for a dog. If anything goes wrong you're a lo...

Re: Timberline Trail CCW July 27-30, 2018

Thank you! I was totally fine not being social and there were tons of spots around.
I REALLY wanted that spot at the top of the hill that older couple had. Their view was incredible! :)

Re: Timberline Trail CCW July 27-30, 2018

I didn’t divert from the TT at all. There was a dusty landslide area between the Muddy Fork and Ramona, but a trail had been created/tramped down that I had no trouble crossing. It’s a little freaky because the dirt is soft and you can see where you would just slide down a ways, it was solid and wid...
