Re: 2022 and Beyond - Snow Levels
Hiked Cooper Spur from Tilly Jane trail, 06/04/23. No snow until the A- Frame, which appears to have been nearly hit by a tree this winter. Pretty much continuous snow above treeline with some places melted out. Bandit Rock still has snow around it, which made for an easy ascent of it.

Re: 2022 and Beyond - Snow Levels
That was quite a trip! Yeah, they used 4610 as a contingent firebreak for the Riverside fire in 2020 - funny thing is they didn't cut ALL of the road - there are places that didn't get touched and others that have a pretty wide cut. I'm guessing you took the old road/trail back up to Salmon Butte f...

Re: 2022 and Beyond - Snow Levels
Snow in patches on the Plaza trail, north and south of Sheepshead Rock, between the Salmon Mtn trail and Road 4610. Most of the snow is gone from the Salmon Butte trail. Did you get up 4610? Or how did you access the trail? I'd be really surprised if you could get up 4610 yet, but this has been a w...

Re: 2022 and Beyond - Snow Levels
Hiked the Devils Peak -Salmon River loop, 05/27/23. Shockingly little snow on that route. Only a couple of very small patches while dropping off of Devils Peak on the way down to the Salmon River.

Re: Eagle Creek to Wahtum Lake
Mountainkat, just to clarify, the PCTA crew cleared Eagle Cr? I understand it's a popular alternate, but wasn't aware official PCTA crews cleared it. Also, thank you very much for the time and effort! AlpenGlowHiker, yes, Eagle Creek is a PCT alternate and is probably hiked more by PCT thru hikers ...

Re: Eagle Creek to Wahtum Lake
Our PCTA crew was out a couple of weeks ago for a three day, two night work party and we cleared the hard to get around logs and debris. We cleaned up and left the step-over logs due to lack of time and the amount of debris that had fallen over the winter. The plan is to get another crew going for t...

Re: 2022 and Beyond - Snow Levels
Hiked a big loop tagging Green Point, Tomlike and Chinidere last week on 05/18/23, going up Nick Eaton and down the PCT. Heading south on the Nick Eaton trail, the snow starts near the plateau of Green Point around 4000 ft and continues through to Chinidere. The PCT is melted out heading north from ...

Re: More Fees Coming to a Trail Near You
Reviving this thread. Has anyone taken a look at the current AORA bill ? They've modified the language, but, it still seems problematic. How likely is it that this bill will pass?

Green Point Mtn
I've been avoiding snow, but, wanting a longer hike, I finally gave in and some friends and I hiked out to Green Point Mtn on Sunday 3/6/22. We looped it by going out Herman Creek and back on Nick Eaton. Snow started around 3800 ft elevation on the Herman Creek side. Nick Eaton still had snow in par...
