Re: Yamsay Mountain & Hager Mountain 6-22-22
Hey bobcat, nice report, and interesting details. I did this hike today, sad to report there is now a single downed log on the trail. I hear you on the berms although I was thinking some of them seem more like water bars. A lot of dead trees in this area, going to burn hot when it goes but maybe it ...

Re: Primrose Trail?
Wow, this thread is over 10 years old and here you are with an update and the promised photos, thanks. I no longer live in the area but it is nice to see this trail still has friends. I will have to make time to come up and visit Primrose after all this COVID business is done. A terrific post.

Re: Raker Point/Sawtooth Mtn - June 25, 2017
So, from your map it looks like the 650 road goes very near the Raker summit. Do you know if that road is open and passable to all-wheel drive vehicles? I was thinking of driving up to the point where your red trip line intersects the 650 and then bushwhacking from there following your line. Hey Ho...

Re: Grizzly Mountain Summit via Grizzly Mountain Road, Solo Monday 8/17/2020
Interesting. IANAL but I'd bet a nickel that the Forest Service has an easement for the road to the top so if there is no closed gate, parking by the side of the road and doing a road hike should not generate a tresspassing charge. Attached is some parcel data for Grizzly Mtn. Looks like there is qu...

Re: Montana Ghost Towns - report of yesteryear
That was/is an ambitious undertaking, I look forward to more photos of your explorations. I look at old buildings like this and wonder what were they like new and what the feelings of the last occupant were when they closed the door and left for the last time. In the late 40s my father purchased an ...

Re: Lower Klamath Lake - Apr 24, 2020
Thx guys, When I retired to K-Falls last year birding was way down on my list of things to do as I came here for hiking. But a couple days after I and my SO settled in I went down to Moore Park and the Link River (drains upper Klamath Lake) to hike the trails there and ran into a zillion pelicans ha...

Re: Up High in the Sierra, July 2018
That was an incredible, thrilling read, more like a short story or novella than a mundane trip report. I was not sure you were going to make it. What a place to be. Great photos.
Thx,

Lower Klamath Lake - Apr 24, 2020
Had to get out of the house so I took a short trip south to Lower Klamath Lake. Found interesting birds hanging out in the remnants of last year's tule reeds. I'm new to all this bird watching so I saw a couple I hadn't seen before. A gaggle of Greater White-Fronted Geese - a White-Faced Ibis in the...

Re: Shellrock Mtn Summit (Gorge) - Jan 25, 2019
Hmmm, what is up with that, anyone know? If I recall there is an old road beyond the crossing. Would work to connect up with the trail up Shellrock for some kind of a loop. The Summit Creek crossing should be a bit easier now

Re: grand opening: Shellrock portion of HCRH
I consider this to be a ridiculous frivolous squandering of resources We will agree to disagree on this point. I think it will be popular and over the years prove to be a good investment. The Mitchell Pt segment is all that remains. I was out there today doing the Shellrock Ridge Lindsey Ridge loop...
