Re: MSH missing hiker, "Ant Canyon"?

Chip: so 2017 was the year of Hood and 2018 the year of St. Helens. Is 2019 the year to find a dozen routes up Adams?

Lost: Camera on McKenzie River Trail

Hi,

Unfortunately set my camera down along the Blue Pool trail today (August 3) and forgot it when we got going again. I'm certain someone picked it up. If you hear of anyone finding one, I'd really appreciate a heads up. It's a Lumix FZ40.

Thank you very much.

Re: Sprague Lake (Mt. Jefferson Wilderness)

For others who may be curious, I didn't realize Sprague Lk was also within the Jeff Park boundaries, so this applies: If camping within 250 feet of any of the lakes in Jefferson Park you must camp within a designated site. Perhaps there's a reasonably good spot in the area some distance away, though.

Re: Mt McLoughlin

Late reply, but maybe still helpful? We summited McLoughlin on June 2. There was a mild amount of snow cover remaining at the higher end of the forested section. As the tree cover diminished, so did the snow on the route. There were a few spots where it was easier to use spots of snow or the snowfie...

Re: steep trails

Munra isn't/wasn't official either, but according to Caltopo it's ~1775' in 0.85 miles (2088'/mi). Comparable to the McNeil Pt one, I guess. :) Couple other stretches off the top of my head: * St. Helens rim via Monitor Ridge, from Loowit jxn: 1789'/mi (3577' in 2 miles) * Elk Mountain: 1717'/mi (19...

Re: Sprague Lake (Mt. Jefferson Wilderness)

Thank you--I saw Matt's reference to it but wasn't sure if there was an unofficial trail to keep an eye out for, or if there were any restrictions on camping there.

Sprague Lake (Mt. Jefferson Wilderness)

Hello! I was poking around on Google Earth, as one does, and noticed Sprague Lake tucked above Jefferson Park on Park Ridge. It looks like a beautiful place to camp, so I was wondering if that was viable (and not disallowed). Is there any kind of boot path over to the lake from the PCT or is it more...

Re: Mt. Washington - Looking for where this lake photo was t

The photographer talks about the photo a little bit here: http://mikeputnamphoto.com/oregons-mt-washington-fine-art-photograph/ buuuut I get the feeling that he's purposefully leaving out the location. Maybe not. Matching up the angle in Earth: https://streamable.com/9awk3 gives a heading of about 1...
