Re: GPS Beacons?

I wonder if this is a fully Garmin developed and built product or if it was in the works from the DeLorme days. Not that either company should make crap, but maybe it just fell through the cracks at some point.

Re: GPS Beacons?

Perhaps it was a bad device, did you consider swapping it for another one?

Re: NW Forest Pass misinformation, omission of America the Beautiful pass

I think it is too much to ask for OHFG to get it right honestly. Nearly every single trailhead policy would need to be monitored and every wiki page would need to be edited constantly. Even to link every page to the "fees" page would take a lot of editing to make sure all applicable pages had links....

Re: Salmon River backpack questions

I would add that you should leave nothing of value in the car.

Re: The case of missing Monon Lake

Let's just admit that these are terrible maps and ESRI takes no responsibility to assure their accuracy. Obviously the USFS and BIA have different ideas where their boundaries are and ESRI justs renders them arbitrarily.

Re: The case of missing Monon Lake

I noticed that it was the same color as Warm Springs on other maps, but that doesn't explain the other two lakes east of there that do the same thing. They are fully contained in Warm Springs.

Re: The case of missing Monon Lake

I'm not saying these are seasonal lakes, I'm saying that's the most likely explanation based on what else I see on the map in the area. As you zoom in you can see the lake change to a brown blob which isn't really explained in the legend but again that's the most likely explanation. I would say to t...

Re: The case of missing Monon Lake

Are they all sourcing ESRI maps? The two you put there are both ESRI sourced. Since Google maps became expensive a lot of people have turned to ESRI and OSM. OSM has the lake, ESRI does not and I know of no way to alert ESRI of errors. It looks like Bing is using the same source. One thing I notice ...

Re: Mt Hood maps

I can beat that: I'll work on your car for half of the Aiwetir Cartography rate. At $30/hr, that's a steal. Services I'm qualified to provide: Detailing, air filter changes on some models, tire inflation, headlight replacement. I can subcontract other services; inquire via PM for rates. What would ...

Re: Mt Hood maps

I'll make anyone custom maps at just half the rate your car mechanic charges you. That's a deal at $60 an hour.
