...when the sun is at the right angle...
It's my understanding the sun's rays are at a right angle to earth's surface only at the equator. But I could be mistaken. :geek:

Any goats? Sometimes I see some, other times no.
Did you find the turtle grave? I couldn't find it last time.

I wish I understood where this was, but after researching it for a while, I lost interest/hope, and moved on.

Oh, I didn't realize we had seen snow that low. Must have melted fast.

Re: South Sister Mystery Trail

A few years ago, while exploring on Google Earth, I spotted something interesting. On the SW of South Sister there is a geographical feature called Rock Mesa, a large lava flow. On the S-SE side of that seemed to be a trail snaking through it to an ending point. No trail appeared to lead to the Roc...

Your secondary goal is a technical rock area known as Cathedral Rocks. Years ago (we won't say how many), I actually drove my Jeep up to those rocks.

Poked my nose into the one on Larch but it was empty.
Yeah, nobody ever fills those things out. ;)
Anyway, I didn't know (or had forgotten) that there's wilderness on Larch. I mean, cripes, there's a paved parking lot at the top.

Re: Popular Mount St. Helens Recreation Site Vandalized

I don't think it's funny to say that you reported a killing to 911 as a prank Wait, what?! Are you referring to my post above? Let me state as clearly as possible, I did not make a false report to 911! I made a truthful report, but did so with no hope of action, did it only for amusement purposes.

Re: Popular Mount St. Helens Recreation Site Vandalized

Last time I called 911 it was just for fun, to see the reaction I'd get. Reported a man shouting " I'm going to start killing people "! Naturally, I didn't stick around, but I can just about guarantee there was no response. Not to put too fine a point on it, I hope you are kidding, because otherwis...

Re: White River Loop (Mt. Hood) 10-12-21

There's so much I still haven't explored in that area, especially down low. Some day. Great time of year to hike that zone. No bugs, no crowds, a bit of snow, not too hot. An inspiring report. I'd call in sick to work Friday, but I have a new job, and that wouldn't look good. I wondered what a snowb...
