Re: Mt Adams really isn't that far east

That does not appear to be a least-squares fit. :geek: The fastest easiest way to analyze the data is just run a vertical (n/s) line through Adams, and see how it compares to other peaks. But yeah, it did occur to me that there would be alternative approaches that would establish a "cascade crest" ...

Mt Adams really isn't that far east

It's often said that Mt Adams isn't in line with the rest of the cascade range, but check out the USGS map below (I added the yellow line). Compared to its three close neighbors, it's a bit to the east. But if you look at the range, it's not an aberration. bonus factoid: Look how far Shasta is to th...

What's wrong with this picture?
I would never wear sandals when hiking. Mosquito bites on the feet are miserable!

Re: Clackamas County crews rescue 7 hikers near Ramona Falls

It still surprises me how many people use Google Maps to navigate on public land. I'm in that category. Sometimes I consult an alternate source, but of course an alternate map using the same data will be equally valid. One thing I won't do though: blithely continue on my merry way, positive the map...

Re: another futile attempt to find an alternate route to Lookout Mt (Skamania)

Thanks for the map!
Shows the road ends at my turnaround point.
I'm curious enough to go poke around some more, but realistically, I'll always have something better to do.
