Eagle Creek in Salmon Huckleberry: evidence of ***hole motorbiker

Some fairly fresh motorcycle tracks to about 2 miles in along this beautiful trail. Sad. I imagine the new road extension has emboldened such lowlifes. Otherwise, it's the same beautiful place. Trillium's in bloom, and plenty of snow from ~3 miles. Exited to the percussive thrum of a grouse.

Lower Eagle Creek Weyerhauser moonscape

Camped on Saturday. Just after the 'parking area' the approach to trail is now graded and scraped apocalyptically and culminates in a heap of dessicated dirt to descend before reaching the unmarked trail. What does this portend? (Again I find the 'img' tag not working, so please click link below.) O...

Re: The "Other Eagle Creek"

You're starting at the Douglas trailhead near the quarry and then going down to Eagle Creek trail? Looks to be about 4 miles down to junction with EC trail. Once there, I think you'll find creek access within a mile or 2. And iff you already did this, any chance you got insight into the Harvey Rd ac...

Re: North Fork Eagle Creek (Estacada) riverside hike

@Bobcat, that sounds likely. There are some spots where it's wide enough. And at one point there's some gravel and some tire ruts, but only in that one spot. @Jerry, north side. There are a few parking pull-offs off of Kitzmiller Rd with paths leading to the main 'trail'. The one I was at, <0.5 mile...

North Fork Eagle Creek (Estacada) riverside hike

Decided to explore the BLM land just east of Eagle Fern Park on Kitzmiller Road. Was pleased to find a riverside trail starting maybe a half mile up the road (or less). The trail goes about 0.7 miles, offering multiple little paths down to the creek. Around 0.7 miles the trail terminates at the cree...

Re: Douglas Trailhead ORV encounter

I have a feeling that the problem with that specific spot is that it is in the Zigzag Ranger District and I don't think they ever make it out there to check on things. The rest of that district is totally separate from this area, as far as roads go. After visiting McIntyre Ridge from a different tr...

What's the easiest way to find land boundaries online, i.e. to find out exactly what is under BLM jurisdiction?
CalTopo: https://caltopo.com/map.html#ll=45.3345 ... =0.2&a=sma
CalTopo looks pretty amazing! Thanks for sharing.

Re: Douglas Trailhead ORV encounter

@RetiredJerry: Agreed! @Aimless: I saw no evidence of ORV use on the trail itself. Just major impediments for hikers. @Justpeachy: Here's a pic of the ORV coming up the road: https://www.dropbox.com/s/z1cuk4v3l8bhw4i/TrumpORVDouglas.jpg?dl=0 What's the easiest way to find land boundaries online, i.e...

Re: Douglas Trailhead ORV encounter

Good to know, Walrus. I wonder what (who?) brought down those trees. I'll take an axe up next time I go, and try to help clear the trail.

Re: Douglas Trailhead ORV encounter

Also, weirdly, the access trail from the parking lot was littered with a s**-ton of young growth bizarrely obstructing the trail. Anyone know what's up with this? I can't imagine it's natural. http://www.dropbox.com/s/fufb0xzhqk1f61q/IMG_5567.JPG?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/4gf6jnnzccx4h5q/IMG_55...
