Re: Green Lakes Trail EAST of Fall Creek
Hi Jerry - We did notice that a few folks are taking the Soda Creek Trail up to the Broken Top Trail, then into Green Lakes. That adds a fair bit of distance and a bit of additional elevation gain (about 150'). But it almost shares the same trailhead. If I were resurrecting that trail, I would reloc...

Green Lakes Trail EAST of Fall Creek
Greetings Hikers - Just back from a trip to Green Lakes just east of South Sister. My companion and I were looking for an alternate route for the return. Her Apple GPS map and my MyTopo.com map both showed a trail that roughly parallels Fall Creek on the EAST side of the creek. BEWARE: that trail wa...

Re: Goat Rocks
Well, there are goats in Goat Rocks, though probably not quite like this one
(Not so deft side-step) Actually, blame bro Kelly! He suggested that I post it here after I sent it to him.

Re: Old Trail to Table Park (Mt. Jefferson Wilderness)?
Here is the map I was looking for. USGS 1930 Mt. Jefferson 1:125000 reprinted 1948. Have fun!

Re: Old PCT route - S. Chambers Lake area?
Hmmm, just got an idea from the Table Park conversation.
Maybe an older USGS topo would have enough resolution to show the route. Might even have one!
Jerry just posted a link to historic USGS topo maps in my Table Park thread. That looks like it may hold the key to this little puzzle.

Re: Old Trail to Table Park (Mt. Jefferson Wilderness)?
That might be the one I am remembering. Just visited the OSU Library. All of their historic maps have been moved to "Special Collections" and you need an appointment to get in. They DID send me a copy of the 1961 map, and the Indian trail was no longer shown on that map. Also got a PM from Walkin' F...

Re: Old PCT route - S. Chambers Lake area?
Thanks, that is a real resource!
I have one of those maps somewhere, 1960s version. The resolution is just not quite enough though it does clarify that the trail did go around the east side of S. Matthieu Lake. That narrows things a lot.
Much appreciated...
