Re: North Oxbow Hike
Welcome to the board and thanks for posting! This sounds like it was a rough outing. I wasn't familiar with this hike, but all the same appreciate the heads up about current conditions (and you got me to check out the field guide entry). Waiting until late summer sounds like a solid plan

Re: The Bee Line and Wycliffe Butte, Cranbrook, BC 6/16-17/22
Pretty sweet pay off for relatively short hikes! Thanks for this report. The local knowledge about finding the bee line trail will come in handy if I'm ever in the area; plus I bet someone will google the trail looking for info and find this helpful report. Also interesting to learn more about the m...

Re: Kamiak Butte 5-25-22
Nice to see these pictures from the dry side of the state. Being a new(ish) Seattleite I've not had a chance to explore the east side much, but I love the somewhat austere landscapes. The wildflowers are great too, of course. Thanks for reminding that Palouse falls is worth a visit and putting some ...

Re: Rowena Crest - Tom McCall Pt
One my favorite hikes, especially in wildflower season. But even in late summer the views are still great. When my wife and I first got into hiking this was a challenging trail for us. This report just made me look back at our pictures from 2009 when we first did this trail. Fun memories

Re: Hells Canyon: 5/10/22-5/11/22
This is an amazing trip report, and seemingly an amazing trip. I feel like doing this when it's too cold for the rattlesnakes to be active was a solid choice :) Really remarkable scenery out there though. I need to check out the eastern OR/ID area some day. Every time I see reports from out there it...

Re: Mt St Helens 2-13-22
Thanks for the replies everyone. I think glide cracks are a good explanation for the ice/snow features. They are indeed running across the ridge line and the snow was convex there, so it seems like the best bet. And thanks for correction on my glacier remnants. The swift would indeed the relevant fo...

Re: Barlow Butte Snowshoe via Barlow Pass Sno Park
This looks like it was a fun, if challenging day in the woods. This winter is the first time I've gone snowshoeing and it's been really enjoyable. I appreciate being able to get out in the winter and at least enjoy the woods. Made it to Paradise at Rainier recently and that was incredible. Amazing v...

Mt St Helens 2-13-22
I took advantage of the blue bird conditions on Sunday morning and went up MSH. For those who are true peak baggers I'll concede up front that I contented myself with the crater rim (but did tag the summit on my previous trip, so whatever). This was my first time in winter conditions and it was fun ...

Re: Adams Glacier decline
...the now separated Adams Outlier section. Cool, we have a new glacier on Mt Adams! :geek: Should we call them Big Adams Glacier and Little Adams Glacier, or something more imaginative? Melting Soon and Melting Sooner, maybe? This is depressing, but in no way surprising. Adams was completely snow ...
