Re: 2023-03-17 Dog Mountain - St. Pattrick's Day Snow Adventure

"sorry for my water bottle in the shot" that's all right, you're forgiven, it's supposed to be a beer bottle I believe Yeah, I thought chip was a reformed man for a second. Very fun report though! It looks like a lot of fun to do Dog in the snow. I really need to get down to the gorge again soon. A...

Re: Mishe Mokwa

What a cool change of scenery! Thanks for posting the photos. I have family in that area, including my mother-in-law who is something of an amateur Chumash historian (and local historian, more generally). I'll need to squeeze in a hike in this spot next time I'm down there. I really appreciate you p...

Re: Mosier Twin Tunnels 1.26.23

Thanks for the report. At least on my end, I can't see the pictures - it just shows the name of the file.

All the same, I love that area of the gorge. Truly one of my favorite places in the world. For the mountain you saw, I'm almost certain it would have been Adams, but I certainly could be wrong.

Re: Mt Adams Wilderness

Absolutely beautiful photos. Nice to see some summer colors on the board at this time of year.

I can't get a good sense of scale - about how big were the falls?

Re: Hiker and dog found dead near Walupt Lake (Aug 2022)

This story is so depressing. For whatever reason it just popped into my head yesterday to check for any updates on this. If we're being honest, it's the dog being shot that really gets me. Anyway, I for one sure am shocked at police malpractice. They're normally such diligent and hardworking public ...

Re: Sub/Alpine meadows, fires, & climate change

I just googled the information and looked for the first scientific source that discussed the amount of sea ice versus land ice. Misleading facts: land ice averages a few kilometers of thickness. That doesn't even pass the sniff test. A kilometer is 6/10ths of a mile in length, so your saying that t...

Re: Sub/Alpine meadows, fires, & climate change

There really isn't any meaningful uncertainty about the core fact that human activity is a significant contributing factor to warming. The perception of uncertainty is largely a consequence of bad faith or deeply uninformed arguments. It's no different that the tactics use by flat-earthers, creation...
