Cloud Cap page info
This page needs updating: https://www.oregonhikers.org/field_guide/Cloud_Cap_Trailhead Water hasn't been available for at least two years now due to some sort of contamination (it was in the news at the time but I just now noticed the page was out of date). TT hikers relying on that water source wou...

Re: Enchantment permits: Gov run amok? Consistent w/ wilderness ethos?
This was the first year we applied and we landed a Stuart Permit. It wasn't a hassle at all. I am looking forward to having that side of the Enchantments to ourselves in mid-September

Re: Irrigation Trail to Rainy and Black Lakes 6-18-18
Thanks for this info, bobcat! We hiked a short section of that Irrigation Trail from Rainy a few weeks back and I wondered what the whole thing was like. I had tried (not too hard, I am afraid) to find the trail to Black Lake as well but gave up quickly knowing the history of the thing and no one be...

Really nice to run into you out there, Don! After you passed us and woodswalker and left us in your dust, I am guessing you were probably long gone by the time we saw the bear on the powerline road less than a mile from the TH.

Re: Tales of Trouble and Trash in the Oregon Woods
Sean, thanks for all you do to bring awareness to this issue! I think that free dump days would be a great place to start, along with massive increases in fines for illegal dumping. When my friend tells me that it will cost him $40 to simply dispose of a cathode ray television, it's not surprising t...

Re: Seeking Trinity Alps recommendations
Stacey and I did Union Creek last year on July 1 and while the flowers were beautiful, there was still snow above the lake and it was blistering hot. 97 degrees while we were hiking! We were not inspired enough to spend another night out there, so maybe don't do Union Creek? ;) Also, an Etna local s...

Danny, SeanThomas went up today and said that there was almost two feet at JRO, including a cornice that has been sculpted by the wind. He was in shorts and a t shirt, but he is Sean, after all

This one might work. We enjoyed it when we hiked it, and there is water access, too. http://www.oregonhikers.org/field_guide ... Point_Hike
Soapstone lake might be another one.

Re: Ives Island 8-26-17
This is an awesome trip. We followed in Guy and Chiyoko's steps a couple of days after they did it and it was definitely much deeper water. Guy even laid our gps track over his and we were in identical spots. Thanks for the link to the tide tables. We will try to hit this one again before the rains ...
