Re: Pioneer Woman's Grave
My friend Robin and I have also searched for the Salmon river crossing and found a potential site. The GPS coordinates for that site are: 45.28510 -121.70831. If you cross the river there you can follow a faint roadbed to Hwy26. There is a Barlow Road sign on a tree at location 45.28431 -121.71022 t...

Re: Bridal Veil Plateau is different now
I know one guy who will love this; the guy with the illegal cabin. He's been trying to decommission the trail up on the plateau for years.

Re: Old swimming pool at Camp Creek?
A number of times when I was in grade school, I swam in that swimming pool. It had log sides and was really cold. I think it was Camp Creek water passing through. Mostly we inner tubed because of the cold water. I'd be interested in knowing what years you swam in this pool at Camp Creek. In the mid...

Re: Why is Multnomah Basin so spooky?
I have had many hikes in the Multnomah basin through the years and have never found it a spooky place. I have found many interesting things up there and I still enjoy hearing about its history. I can’t say the same for the Bridal Veil Plateau. I have hiked up there numerous times and have come acros...

Re: When and how to alert authorities
Koda, I think you have it right. The county sheriff is the right place to call. I was reading a story last night from the PCT reader about a person who became ill while on the trail. He had satellite phone and contacted his wife and told her he was sick and where he thought he was in Lane county. He...

When and how to alert authorities
When I go hiking, ether alone or with friends I always leave information with my wife as to where I’m going, what time I expect to be back and the make, model and license of the car. We were talking the other day about up and coming hikes and my wife commented that she really wasn’t sure what the ri...

Re: Afib
I dealt with my situation by reaching out to my personal physician as well as my cardiologist and working with them to get my rhythm under better control. I struggled through dose adjustments to the heart rate medication, enduring fatigue at times on the higher doses and anxiety at times on the low...

Re: Afib
The only blood thinner I take now is a 325mg aspirin daily. I also take 50mg of Atenolol for heart rate control. I use to take 100mg daily but it made me too tired. I wish there was a "pill in the pocket" solution for this but my doctor says there is nothing out there now.
