Re: Barrett Spur Scramble, 8/2/2020

Nice report on a great part of the mountain! Maybe it's just me, but I find all the features between Cathedral Ridge and Barrett Spur just a bit confusing. It was probably my 4th trip when I finally felt like I had it all figured out, and felt like I had explored all the main points. I too noticed ...

Re: comet neowise

I think you did great here! It's a tough challenge because the comet is just really really dim. As far as the calculations for star trails / avoiding them, you're lightyears beyond me! As far as focus goes, that's tough, one work around is if your camera has a live view option, you can try that, set...

Re: comet neowise

FWIW, If you have a tripod + mirror lockup + 2 second shutter delay, I had decent results @ 400mm F5.6, 5 seconds, ISO 800, this using a Canon 80d. Re: Dee Wright Sunrise and Lava Flow Self Guided Tour

This seems like one of those places in Oregon that I just have to visit some day. But it would be easier to make it for the sunrise in September. McKenzie Pass is a special place, fun road, tons of turns, and so much to see there! Thanks for posting! Actually you should just pull an all nigh...

Mt. Woodson / Potato Chip Rock + Comet Neowise

Hello everyone! Well if you're ever in the Santee / San Diego area, I highly recommend the Potato Chip rock hike from Hwy 67. It's a short 4.2 miles round trip, and a good steep leg burner. You'll be walking a paved service road to the summit, so it's an easy night walk back down to the car! The pro...

Economics - Nerd Stuff

This is a good one that walks through the boom/bust cycles and how each generation is more and more worse off.

A must watch, even if you hate numbers, you'll enjoy the presentation and bits of humor
