Re: Gilbert Riparian Reserve Arizona

These are amazing photos. Thanks you posting them! It seems like AZ is to your liking; glad the birds are more cooperative down there :) Are these from multiple days in the field or was this one extremely productive day? Beauty work here. Thank you! I just go on weekends, so these are from various ...

Re: Memaloose and Clackamas Falls - before the fire

Well then this begs the following question(s) in my mind: How is respect taught? How's in enforced? Who's job is it to instill it? What has occurred in society that has changed it? I'm enjoying AZ.. it's different here  I like visiting PH occasionally to see some of the green foliage... Oh,...

Re: Barrett Spur Scramble, 8/2/2020

Nice report on a great part of the mountain! Maybe it's just me, but I find all the features between Cathedral Ridge and Barrett Spur just a bit confusing. It was probably my 4th trip when I finally felt like I had it all figured out, and felt like I had explored all the main points. I too noticed ...

Re: comet neowise

I think you did great here! It's a tough challenge because the comet is just really really dim. As far as the calculations for star trails / avoiding them, you're lightyears beyond me! As far as focus goes, that's tough, one work around is if your camera has a live view option, you can try that, set...

Re: comet neowise

FWIW, If you have a tripod + mirror lockup + 2 second shutter delay, I had decent results @ 400mm F5.6, 5 seconds, ISO 800, this using a Canon 80d. A newer camera may allow a higher ISO and maybe 2-3 seconds with better results. This comet was just really dim, so any light pollution = even bigger ch...

Re: Dee Wright Sunrise and Lava Flow Self Guided Tour

This seems like one of those places in Oregon that I just have to visit some day. But it would be easier to make it for the sunrise in September. McKenzie Pass is a special place, fun road, tons of turns, and so much to see there! Thanks for posting! Actually you should just pull an all nigh...
