Pika Watch in Gorge
For all you Gorge hikers! PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Up for a summertime game of I Spy? Well, you’re in luck because the Oregon Zoo is seeking volunteers to help spot American pikas living in the Columbia River Gorge. Re: Across the Alpine Lakes, Again: Snoqualmie Pass to Icicle Creek
Thank you, Robin, for the beautiful trip report! I used your link to go back to the first half of your report and read both back to back. You'll never know how wonderful it was to read about and see some of the places I never managed to get to while I was still able to hike (I'm now limited by age a...

Re: Inactive members: where are they now?
Well, grannyhiker occasionally lurks here to see if anything interesting is happening, mostly to admire the many photos of flowers and scenery. She is actually now a great-granny, twice over, and her "hiking" is now limited to around the block with a walker, or, on occasion, getting as close to the ...

I still check in here once in a while, and I spotted your wonderful photos. The grin on the face of your young fisherman is priceless! So are the wildflower walk and the hot cocoa! This is the kind of trip report I love!

I always wondered that, too! You'd be the man/woman/person without a country?

You can't return from Manning Park to the USA via trail. Crossing the border into the US from Canada is now allowed only at established border crossing stations. Entering the US via the PCT (which is remotely monitored) can cost $5,000 fine and a year in jail. From the PCTA: http://www.pcta.org/disc...

Re: Lost stuffed seal pup in Jefferson Park!
Another email from Eric--he is in touch with the little boy's mom, sent her a pic ot the seal, and arranged to meet them Thursday to return the seal. Any parent (or grandparent in my case), can appreciate just how attached the little ones can get to a stuffed toy (usually a specific one) and how ups...

Re: Lost stuffed seal pup in Jefferson Park!
I just sent another pic from Eric, showing "Smoky" the Seal at Hunts Cove, riding on Eric's shoulder. Hopefully someone will post it here--I seem to have forgotten how to do it. My internet was down for about half an hour, so it's a bit delayed. I hope the little guy is able to sleep now that he kno...
