New Hiking App

KOIN had a segment this morning about a new hiking app for a limited number of Central Washington counties. It is called Tread Map. https://www.koin.com/news/washington/new-app-provides-real-time-information-for-central-wash-trails/ https://www.koin.com/news/washington/new-app-provides-real-time-inf...

Re: Trout Creek to View Point – 2021-06-03

Saw a little flog at the one stream crossing. I'm no zoologist, but that looks like a frog . :geek: Flog is what I did to the frog. :D Cross over NF-412 road and continue on the PCT Oh, I hadn't noticed it's 412 at that point. It's 41 to the west, and I assumed it was 41 all the way to the east. Wh...

Trout Creek to View Point – 2021-06-03

We started at the Trout Creek Trailhead near Stabler, Wa. IMG_1380.JPG This is an out and back hike on the PCT Southbound. The hike on the way in is a moderate elevation gain. Not a lot of flowers or other views on the trail. IMG_1367.JPG Saw a little frog at the one stream crossing. IMG_1370.JPG IM...

Did you start at 15 mile camp, or somewhere else? I’m wondering how FS 44 is from 35. Snow map says still under snow.
Started at 15 mile camp. FS44 is fine. There are only small areas where the snow encroaches on the road. The other roads into the trailhead are also fine.

Re: Fifteenmile Creek – 5/11/2021

We also saw some bear scat, that looked to be days old. No bear sightings however. IMG_1334.JPG Mt Adams and Mt. Rainier were in view through occasional openings in the trees. IMG_1324.JPG The notable tree eating rock is still prominent. Looks like the section that was previously in the rock has mov...

Fifteenmile Creek – 5/11/2021

Was a chilly start at the trailhead at about 8:30am. On the drive here the temp quickly changed from 36 to 46 when we came around a bend in the road more to the East side. IMG_1352.JPG The first part of the trail had some snow on the trail, but it was easily navigable. I wouldn’t be surprised if it ...

Re: 2021 Snow Level

15 Mile Creek Trail snow on the trail after the start at about 4,500 feet. Not enough to cause issues. Downed trees were more of an issue. On the drive here the temperature went up substantially. It was about 36 degrees on the way up. We came around a bend and the temp jumped to 46 in an instant. IM...

Re: Happy Birthday!

Found just past half way point Counter Clockwise on the 15 Mile Creek Trail. It worked great as a container for some nice Sugar Pine Cones for my wife.

Glacier lilies represent yellow snow, because avalanches move too fast for you to pee on them.
That is easier for me to remember!
