From what I've read, it's about 125 ft higher, steeper, and all ash. I have a couple friends going in 2 weeks and they have no permits. I'm curious if I have to bail them out of jail!!

Anyone been bothered by rangers while climbing St. Helens? Heard yes, and no. If so, do they ask for your permit?

Nice pics. I'm packing my 20 lbs of Nikon camera crap up there so you're right, maybe it'll make some good shots. I'm climbing Bachelor the Friday before Sister , maybe I'll get some good ones up there at sunset. How are the lakes over there? Besides the skeeters.

Hey thanks!! I talked to the Bend rangers today and they said it's pretty clear to the summit, just no pool yet. I'm planning for next Saturday, hopefully the smoke will be gone.

No, my friend weinered out on me. I spent a good few hours photographing Elowah and Wahclella Falls since I had never been there, and my friend wasn't too keen on bushwacking. I'll make it back up there eventually.
