Heads up, snow this morning on Bald Butte and surveyors ridge. That's quite a bit lower than the predicted pass levels.

I have never filled one out and don't intend to. On the wilderness permit sign it says in italics that all groups must fill out a permit. Since it's commonly recognized that 1 is a single, 2 is a pair and 3 and above is a group, I feel that it is obvious that as a single hiker I don't need a permit....

Well, it's started already. There's a fire over by Red Hill. The upper Hood River Valley is filling up with smoke. I've had to close all my windows as it's hard to breathe. I don't know if it is even accessible yet but just a heads up. From now into June you wont be able to get there via FS16 out of Parkdale. A section of the road is closed for logging. You'll have to get there via Lolo Pass road out of ZigZag or Lost lake road out of Dee. Hood River news didn't say ho...

They've also closed Ruthton park for the same reason. They're eliminating more and more of the green spaces in and around Hood River, despite the objections of we who live here.
