For those of you who play a musical instrument such as the flute, harmonica, guitar, ukulele, etc., have you ever brought your musical instrument on an overnight backpacking trip? I know that many folks will bring an instrument on a car camping trip, but I wonder how many backpackers are diehard/pas...

I reworded the poll to hopefully better fit potential responses.

Re: Backpacking: solo or with somebody?

This is the only online public forum I have my phone number displayed openly. I'm not too worried about it, as I let unfamil...

Backpacking: solo or with somebody?

Great pics!

It brings back memories of when I used to live in WA and hiked in the Goat Rocks wilderness. I need to get back up there one of these days.

Seeking cohorts for PCT section hiking

Hi all, My bride of 13 years is not a hiker, and she is not at all comfortable with me spending days on end in the backcountry all by myself. When we got married, she understood that I loved "playing outside" and she knew what she was getting into by marrying a guy like me. However, in the past few...

Would love to have read the article, but living in Bend I don't have a Multnomah county Library card.

Re: The Bagby Mystery solved

GPS devices do that, too. I live in Bend and our GPS says it's quicker to use Hwy 242 to get to the beach. It's not. Also, last October when we visited Gold Beach, the GPS directed us way the heck out in the boonies going up and over the coast range via remote logging/forest service/DNR roads. This ...
