Re: Jefferson Creek Trail
I camped 3 nights at Table Lake in late August, 2020 - - about a week prior to the Lionshead Fire exploding on Labor Day Weekend. I hiked up to the Hole In The Wall overlook, and on up to Bear Butte, and briefly contemplated going down into Hole In The Wall Park (HITWP), but it was a jumbled mess of...

Re: Inactive members: where are they now?
I used to post a lot of trip reports, but as I get older, I am hiking less and working more, plus family obligations, health issues, and projects around the house/yard that seems to take up more time. Social media like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and more are the easiest way for people to post pic...

Re: Three Fingered Jack East Canyon Meadows July 3rd
Jefferson Lake Trail is clear to Patsy Lake, thanks to those volunteers who've painstakingly reopened this trail the past few years. Sugarpine Ridge....I attempted to follow it for a bit on the upper end where it intersects the Cabot Lake Trail last year, no problem for a bit but I could see that it...

Re: Best trail car/truck
Depends on where you like to go. For me, those rugged, nasty, sharp rock infested roads (like the one between FS route 46 and the PCT Trailhead to Park Ridge), my half ton 4x4 truck with decent ground clearance and multi-ply LT tires has never let me down. Gas mileage? Poor compared to Subarus and s...

Re: covid vaccines currently available
I got very lucky and managed to get a vaccination of Moderna through my doctor's office. Second dose in 2 weeks!

Re: Fire affected trails: WA, OR, CA
The undertaking to reopen and consequently maintain them as fire damaged/killed trees begin to fall is going to be huge.

Re: Are the mosquitoes in Jefferson Park really that bad?
It depends.....I've visited in mid-July a couple of times, and once was in a very low snowpack year - - No mosquitoes as things were very dry that year. One other time I visited in mid-July and found it miserable - - a normal snowpack year.

Thomas, it sounds like things have really grown up since you and I hiked there a few years ago.

Re: Very brushy on French Creek Ridge
Wow, this one has really slipped - - it had been freshly brushed out by a group from the Youth Conservation Corps 10 or 15 years ago, and the trail was in great shape past Marten Buttes and beyond. Too bad, it's a neat hike with some decent views. I'm guessing that road 2207 is still a bit of an adv...
